“How Can I Help Someone?”

Do you know someone experiencing cancer and want to help? I have been so blessed with a great support system and have had people ask “How can I help you?” and I never know how to answer that. Here are some ideas that have been a huge blessing for my family during this time:

  • Start a meal train or bring a meal

  • Gift cards to their favorite stores to bring a smile to their face and help them spoil themselves

  • Cozy blanket for the hard days

  • Water bottle to stay hydrated during and after chemo

  • Soft headwraps

  • Stay in touch with them! Cancer isn’t contagious- sometimes we just need our friends to act normal and pretend we aren’t going through this

  • Take them out on their good days! Do things you would do with them pre-cancer!

  • Epsom salts - relaxing baths help so much with the pain from chemo

  • TV/Movie recommendations- chances are they are spending a ton of time bouncing between their bed and their couch and have run out of things to watch. Send some good suggestions their way!

  • Help with everyday things- Chemo is hard stuff and makes little things such as going to the grocery store or folding laundry feel like you are climbing Mount Everest.

  • Notebook- super helpful for tracking symptoms, appointment notes, and journaling through the tough days
