“How Can I Help Someone?”
Do you know someone experiencing cancer and want to help? I have been so blessed with a great support system and have had people ask “How can I help you?” and I never know how to answer that. Here are some ideas that have been a huge blessing for my family during this time:
Start a meal train or bring a meal
Gift cards to their favorite stores to bring a smile to their face and help them spoil themselves
Cozy blanket for the hard days
Water bottle to stay hydrated during and after chemo
Stay in touch with them! Cancer isn’t contagious- sometimes we just need our friends to act normal and pretend we aren’t going through this
Take them out on their good days! Do things you would do with them pre-cancer!
Epsom salts - relaxing baths help so much with the pain from chemo
TV/Movie recommendations- chances are they are spending a ton of time bouncing between their bed and their couch and have run out of things to watch. Send some good suggestions their way!
Help with everyday things- Chemo is hard stuff and makes little things such as going to the grocery store or folding laundry feel like you are climbing Mount Everest.
Notebook- super helpful for tracking symptoms, appointment notes, and journaling through the tough days
